Spring 2008

Procedure of the Month

Breast Augmentation

As Spring arrives and we begin to shed layers of clothing, do you find yourself wishing for some more feminine contours to fill your summery T-shirts and tank tops?

Breast Augmentation is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures. The goal of a Breast Augmentation is to make the breasts larger, fuller and more symmetrical with prettier cleavage. The implants are inserted through an incision under the breast fold or, to avoid a scar, through the armpit. Implants are placed under the muscle to produce a natural look with less potential to sag and interfere with breastfeeding or future mammograms. Since the implant is under the muscle, the augmented breasts will look just like an enhanced version of your own.

Breast implants are now available in both saline and the newly FDA  approved silicone. Dr. Bond will advise on which is the better choice for you. Before your surgery, we will schedule an appointment for implant sizing, so you can decide exactly what size you want to be.

If you’ve ever considered Breast Implants, please join us at this highly informative  Breast Augmentation seminar on July 15th.

Restylane, Perlane and BOTOX

*FREE VIAL OF PERLANE or RESTYLANE*

Has it occurred to you that you don’t look as young as you feel?  Do deep facial lines and crow’s feet make you look tired and older than you are? If you’re ready to look as fresh as the Springtime flowers, please join us on Tuesday, 5/13 for our  BOTOX and Filler party. Individual consultations will be scheduled with Dr. Bond to decide which Filler will best suit your needs. To make sure that you look fabulous for the Summer, we are offering the second vial of Restylane or Perlane at no charge! Both vials must be used completely at this visit. See the article below for some inventive uses for Fillers and ask us how you can extend the payments for your Summer “fill” well into the Fall with no interest!

July 15 –Breast Augmentation & Implant Choice

Silicone vs. Saline

If you're planning to have  Breast Augumentation, this is the perfect seminar to inform you about the procedure and help you choose the type of implant that will be used. Now that silicone implants have been approved by the FDA, women are considering the pros and cons of silicone over saline. Questions to be answered are:

  • Cost
  • Safety of silicone
  • Comparative deflation rates
  • Size of Scar
  • Breast Symmetry.
  • Monitoring after silicone

 Beware of Bad Loans

Many patients finance their surgeries by borrowing from companies that provide loans for cosmetic surgeries. Some loan companies are better than others, but some are downright THIEVES! If you are applying for a cosmetic loan and the lender asks YOU for money for a down payment or pre-payment for a consultation, RUN, do not walk away. Websites will advertise heavily discounted procedures and present bogus payback scams.  We know a patient who paid several hundred dollars to visit a Plastic Surgeon who supposedly charged discounted Tummy Tuck fees and discovered that his fees were considerably higher than advertised. After the visit, she was pressured by the loan company to send a “surgery deposit” which she later found out was non-refundable. The loan companies that we deal with are reputable and we will be happy to discuss them with you.

 Eyelash Update

Jan Marini has informed us that AI Eyelash Conditioner will soon be replaced by a new product that will make our lashes even more long and lush! Call the office and we’ll let you know when it’s available.

Old Fillers – New Uses

Many of our patients are happily using Restylane, Perlane and Radiesse to fill their nasolabial folds (corners of  the nose to corners of the mouth) and marionette lines (lines down from the mouth corners) with beautiful results. But did you know that fillers can be used in many other applications that you probably haven’t thought of?

Restylane can smooth the “crow’s feet” around the eyes and even out the area below the eye to camouflage undereye “bags”. Perlane can be injected under the brow to lift and give a “wide-eyed” look.

Radiesse can creat a more prominent cheekbone and slightly lift the face. Patients considering a Rhinoplasty to correct a bump on the bridge of the nose can preview their outcome with injections of Radiesse to smooth the lines of the nose for a temporary “nose job”. A slightly drooping jowl can be hidden by Perlane injections on either side of the jawline.

Of course we know that lips can be plumped with Restylane, but if you look closely at the perimeter of your mouth, you may see “cigarette lines” above the lips and  2 less obvious indented areas at the lip corners. Filling these areas can really freshen the face for a noticeably younger look.

Have you noticed that beyond a certain age, the cleavage starts to look a bit wrinkly……even .that area can be filled for a smoother look. Even aging earlobes can be plumped with a filler to remove small wrinkles and create a bit of space below a tearing pierced lobe. We hope you’ll examine your body parts and let Dr. Bond fill your missing pieces at our BOTOX and Filler Party on May 13th.
